Despite being a hectic time, December is one of my favorite month of the year. In addition to hosting and participating in many fundraisers and events, I get to celebrate the holidays, my birthday, and my anniversary.
It’s so much fun and something I look forward to every year. December is also the best time to connect with my community, friends, and family. Together we celebrate, reflect, and give thanks for all the things that make life special.
Additionally, it is a time for generosity and a reminder of how important it is to give back to those in need. I believe everyone deserves to have a great holiday season, and I’m proud to be able to contribute to that.
All this to say we were able to participate in some of my favorite events these last few weeks. Have you seen the Bless the Mess team at any of these gatherings?
To get the holiday season off to an exciting start, we organized a public welfare event to promote sustainability. All money raised was donated to the girls of the Miao Tribe.
The event was focused on second-hand fashion. We accepted donations of a variety of items—from jewelry to shoes to purses—and offered them at reduced prices.
Decluttering your home and donating what no longer gives you joy can be very therapeutic. It is a great way to get into the holiday spirit.
In addition to contributing to a great cause, you get to organize your home and make room for gifts and blessings to receive.
My son is a Scout, and I’m usually thrilled to help organize the Scout holiday fundraiser.
Because of the recent outbreak, we unfortunately had to cancel this year’s event but
here’s a recap of how these fndraisers usually go.
Every year, the Scouts annual Chirstmas fundraiser is a way to bring people together and have some fun while raising money for a good cause. While it is a lot of work, all those that participate are very proud of the successful event and the positive impact it has on the community and our children.
Who doesn’t love a good pajama party? My friends and I started a tradition where every December, we get together and have a girl’s night in.
We have foot massages, dance competitions, a naughty or nice Secret Santa gift exchange, and plenty of food and drinks.
The recent surge in caused many events to get canceled in Shanghai. However, there are still charitable organizations where you can donate good items that you no longer need.
Here are a few of our favorites:
➞ Blue Sky collects clothing for children. Their approach is different that most other organizations as they pair you up with a child in need. They do this to ensure that the sizes you’re donating are well-suited for the child who will receive them.

➞ Eleventh Hour Rescue is a collective that rescues all kinds of animals in their spare time including cats and dogs, as well as rabbits and pigs. I’m a big animal lover and love their mission. They also teach novice rescuers on the trap-neuter-release of stray animals.

➞ Mifan Mama is an NGO that provides basic services (food, healthcare, education) to orphanages across six provinces. You can help them by donating clothing (for babies, children or adults), toys and games for all ages, books (Chinese or English), diapers and baby wipes and furniture.

Overall, December has been a month of joyous celebration, giving back to the community, and reconnecting with friends and family.
I am grateful for all the wonderful events I had the chance to attend and be part of, as they all brought me so much joy. I’m glad I was able to make this December memorable and special for everyone around me.
