I love the start of the new year because it’s the perfect time to think about how I want my life to be. I take this opportunity to reset, recharge and renew my perspective, and I always like setting new goals to achieve in the coming months.
Do you do this?
Setting goals is a great way to commit yourself to being more productive and work on the things that matter. While most people set career, relationship & fitness goals, an area that tends to get overlooked is the less tangible goals – such as becoming more organized.
It doesn’t have to be this way! Becoming more organized can help you be happier, more productive & efficient in your daily life, just like getting fit can help you have a healthy relationship with food, and having good goals for career can help you have a steady income.
So how do we set goals to become more organized in 2022?
Even if your current clutter situation has been going on for years, the process is simple – you can start by setting short & long-term goals.
Short-term Goals to Help You Become More Organized
Short-term goals are the easiest to set, and you can cross them off your list and feel productive pretty quickly. For example, if a messy room is getting in the way of you being effective at work, make it a goal to get your room organized this week.
To Make Sure You Stay on Track With Your Short-term Goal, Use These Strategies:
Define deadlines for when you want to accomplish an organization task by
Be realistic about how much time & energy accomplishing your goal requires
Prepare yourself with the necessary tools to carry out the project
Reward yourself when you succeed
Schedule recurring tasks for the week, which helps you stay consistent & form a long-term habit
Long-term Goals to Help You Become More Organized
Long-term goals are the hardest to set and don’t always feel as rewarding – after all, we can’t see the result of our hard work in only a few months. However, setting long-term goals is important as it helps us stay motivated to continue working on them.
Long-term Goals That Help You Become a More Organized Person Include:
Declutter everything in your house
Create an organization calendar to help you stay consistent in your efforts
Get into the habit of evaluating everything that comes into your life, and whether or not you have the space for it
Introduce your family to the philosophy of living a more organized life and talk about it regularly
Start small, repeat often and stay persistent for the long term
Now you’re ready to start your journey and become more organized in 2022! Once you have your short & long-term goals written down, I recommend you start here:
