Do you stick to a daily routine? You should! Having a daily routine can help you feel accomplished, focused, and in control. This is something I help my clients with and I can say with honesty that it has changed their lives for the better.
I, for one, need to do some form of exercise to kick off my day whether it be stretching, cardio, weight training or meditation. I’ve developed this new routine during the pandemic and it honestly feels so great to get the blood flowing in the morning before I start my day.
And by engaging in this routine first thing, I can avoid making excuses for cancelling on my much needed workouts when my day gets busy.
Daily habits are beneficial for anyone looking to add a little structure to their day. Whether you’re consciously aware of it or not, there are actually many things that you do daily that either contribute to your well being or diminish the quality of your life. I want you to create GOOD habits, those that empower you to be your best self. So, here’s a list of my favorite tidying tasks that I do daily.
One thing to note: These are not compulsory habits. I didn’t pick these tasks because of any sense of obligation or for any reason other than they help me be the best version of myself. If something on this list isn’t working for you, don’t feel bad about skipping it and replacing it with something else! Everyone is different and we all have different needs and wants.
Making my bed daily is a necessity for me and I truly believe this simple task sets me up for a successful day . It shows my body, mind, and soul that I’m ready to take on the world. Somehow, even if I have a long day at work and come home tired and not in the best of moods, when I see my bed all made and cozy I feel better. Plus, the bonus is that the house looks so much more put together and inviting when you come home.
It may be just me, but the sight of scattered shoes and house slippers everywhere sends chills down my spine. I believe entryways are such an important part of the home as it sets the stage for what’s inside. So instead of leaving shoes all over, I have a shoe closet that I’ve instructed everyone in my home to use.
Kitchen, bathrooms or laundry room, my countertops are always clear at the end of the day. This is one of my most important tidying tasks, because I love waking up to a clutter-free home. And since I do this task daily, it only takes about 10 minutes to put everything back in its place at the end of the day.
Don’t you hate waking up to a sink full of dirty dishes? Me too! I’ve had this problem in the past, because let’s face it, no one likes to wash dishes, but have since changed. By cultivating this daily habit, I’m now left with not only a clean sink but also a house that smells good. That’s a win-win for me.
To say I love essential oils would be an understatement because I’m truly obsessed! There’s nothing quite like walking into a room and feeling the calming effect of a favorite oil blend. I have been using oils for over 10 years and have experimented with many oil blends in the past – I even have a list here for the best oil blends to support the back to school period. While technically not a tidying task, this habit calms my mind and helps me feel relaxed and inspired.
Like most things, it is easier to create habits when you start small. Start with just one thing that is doable every day, and then build from there!
