As I always say, being organized does not have to be complicated and difficult – it can be an easy task that takes minimal time and effort. Cleaning your messy bathroom is a perfect example of that! In this article, I prepared some tips for you that are not just effective, but simple.
All you need is some time and a little bit of patience, and before long your bathroom will be organized like never before. Let’s get started!
You may not even be aware of the effect that your bathroom clutter has on your life. I mean, after all, it is just a bathroom!
But let’s be honest – the bathroom is where we spend a good amount of time every day, whether we realize it or not.
For starters, a messy bathroom can make getting ready for the day more stressful. Having to look for things and moving around clutter, causes distractions & many annoyances that can be avoided by keeping things simple and organized.
Second of all, bathroom clutter can cause hygiene issues – dirt, dust and grime are among the most common. These are things you want to avoid and keeping things tidy will help you prevent these hygiene issues from occurring in the first place.
Furthermore, subconsciously you might not allow yourself to take the time to relax in the bathtub or the shower because of the clutter, and as such yet another daily ritual is missed out on.
These are just a few of the many ways that a messy bathroom can affect us – even if it is something we don’t realize.
A cluttered countertop is going to make it hard for you to get ready each morning. In my own home, I only keep items I use everyday within reach, and I store the rest away. This makes my counter surface appear clean, and also allows me to efficiently organize my bathroom routine.
One of my favorite tricks to keep my counter looking clean is to store shared necessities (i.e. Q-tips and cotton pads) for me and hubby in glass jars on the countertop for easy access.
Tip 1. Declutter the bathroom counter and keep only what you use everyday within reach.
Bonus tip for parents: you can teach your child how to sort and organize their own bathroom necessities into acrylic jars on their countertop. Children love getting involved in all activities and it helps instil good habits when they’re young.
I like keeping my bathroom drawers as organized as possible and for this task I use drawer baskets and dividers.
I personally love separating my drawers by purpose – one for my makeup, one for body care and finally one for hair care. I find this practice to be the most efficient and I like that it makes it easier for me to find what I am looking for.
Tip 2. Make use of drawer trays and separate your items by their intended purpose
In my experience as a professional organizer, I see many people storing irrelevant items in their bathrooms such as old hotel toiletries. This unnecessary bathroom clutter has to go – so start by clearing your cabinets of everything not needed in the bathroom.
Check for expired make-up and facial care and let them go. These are items that add up quickly and build clutter in your cabinets. I discussed my best makeup organization tips in this post and have included a make-up expiration guide for you to download and use to declutter.
Tip 3. Don’t store irrelevant items in your bathroom, only store things you need
There you have it! Simple right? So, what are you waiting for? Step up your game with these simple tips and get rid of your bathroom clutter today!
I want to make it clear that all the ideas and tips mentioned in the article require no special skills or expertise. All you need is one hour and some determination.
