Do you have a mini Picasso in your life? Having trouble keeping track of all the artwork your kids create, especially now at the end of the school year?
For the parents I help, I’ve noticed that one of the most difficult tasks is keeping their children’s artwork organized! It seems like that ought to be the easiest of all, but because of the sheer volume of creations, it’s actually more difficult than you might think.
With young children, every day new artwork will come in and old artwork will eventually need to go out; some pieces may still be on display, while others can be packed away for safekeeping.
So, if your child just came home with a fresh batch of art, here’s my list of tips on how to tackle this challenge in a fun and creative way.
I can tell you from experience that your child will love this! Not only will you be able to use this art to decorate and a touch of fun and color to their space, but you’ll also instil a feeling of accomplishment in your child. They’ll feel proud and inspired to continue creating.
Just last week, I gathered all my son’s school year creations and sent it over to get scanned and turned into a collage that I plan to hang in his room.
Creating a personalized art book is another way to save your child’s favorite pieces. You can take pictures of individual papers, upload the images and discard the physical paper. Your home will remain clutter free and your children will have an amazing keepsake they can look back on when they’re older. For both artbooks and mosaics you can either send it to a company to do it for you, such as Artkive, Photo Mi in Shanghai or do it yourself (or with your child) at home.
Lay the piece of paper on a flat surface, zoom and frame the shot as to exclude the surroundings.
I use Canva to create my books. Here’s 2 simple templates you can start off with or create your own from scratch! Photo book template 1 | Photo book Template 2
This is by far my favorite step for obvious reasons! The final result is cute, fun and can be stored away or kept as a coffee book.
If you have no interest or spare time in putting together a coffee table book of your kids’ artwork yourself, check out Art4Keep.

Besides books and collages, there are companies that will turn your children’s art into usable products such as mugs, calendars, umbrellas, t-shirts, puzzles and more! These items are personal and fun but can also be used to give as gifts to grandparents and other close relatives. Shutterfly is great business for these purposes along with Photobook China.
My son’s art teacher even made a calendar using his art and it’s simply adorable!
I’m sure there are other ideas than these three but these are the ones my clients have the easiest time with as it saves them from having to permanently discard of loved pieces. I know this can sometimes be an emotional process because of the sentimental value of this art, but it’s important to remember your why. I promise you, both you and your child will benefit from this process now and later on.
