The end of summer is fast approaching and thoughts of school are on most of our minds. Back-to-school organization can be a daunting task but with a little planning and preparation, you can get ready without the hassle.
To help make sure you start the year off on the right foot, go through these 5 activities that will get you organized in no time.
I have a son, I’m a full-time working mom and I also run my own business. For me getting organized for back to school is an absolute must.
Today we’re going to go over all the preparations needed to get our kids ready for the new school semester, from new routines to getting their back-to-school supplies ready.
Summer vacation often has a more relaxed schedule, whereas school days are filled with learning, homework, and after-school activities.
Such a drastic transition can be quite upsetting for both children and their parents but with the right tools, you can make it a lot easier.
Start the process as early as possible with something simple such as talking to your kids about going back to school. Follow that by syncing your kid’s sleep schedule with your own again and finish off by easing into the new routine (more on this next).
Creating a morning routine for your child might sound like a lot of work but it will be a big help once they return to class.
Morning routines lay down the groundwork for the day by helping your kids get up and get ready with minimal stress and resistance.
Keep in mind that the most successful morning routines usually start the night before. If you want to find out more, check out this Real Simple article that promises a stress-free morning routine that works for both you and your child.
A well-organized, clean home helps your child feel more confident at school and also puts you at ease.
If you haven’t already, declutter what you no longer need and designate a place for everything remaining.
Clean your home and sanitize high-contact areas such as doorknobs, light switches, remote controls, handles, and any area you know your family often touches.

While a lot of my son’s learning has become digital at this point, we still need to get a few supplies ready for him to start the new year.
Before shopping for supplies, I like to make a master list of everything my son needs for the coming semester.
I then go through his existing supplies and see what we can keep and repurpose and what can be discarded or donated.
This helps me shop faster, and avoid wastage, duplicates, and clutter.
One of the most useful tools I use in our home is an activities calendar.
I keep one on my computer and then print it out to hang on the fridge so all the adults in the house can see what’s going on and prepare accordingly.
You can also use apps to track everyone’s activities that sync up to each family’s member phone, I talked about this in my last post.

Having a calendar you can review at a glance can also help your family stick to routines that make everything run soother.
If your children are still doing online learning, make sure to read this post to help you set up the ideal homework station.
And stay tuned to our blog, in the next post we’ll discuss how to organize your child’s closet and get it ready for the new school year.
