As a wife, mom and organizer, my goal is to empower homeowners to find balance in their homes and minds through organization.
This 14-day challenge is designed to help you make small changes each day and get into the habit of organizing.

A long time ago, summer used to mean freedom and long afternoons. These days (and you parents can relate), it means later bedtimes, more time outside, and a lot more laundry.
My son is almost 12 now. He doesn’t need help with every little thing anymore, but summer still throws our rhythm off. School ends, routines shift, and suddenly the days feel both slower and more chaotic.
This is when I rotate in a different set of oils. What worked in January doesn’t work in July. I lean on lighter blends, more energizing oils, and calming support for those in-between moods that show up more often this time of year.
Here’s how I adjust our essential oil routine once summer hits, and why it makes such a difference in our home.
Each of the blends below is something I use regularly during the summer whether to reset our mood, ease physical discomforts, or keep our home feeling fresh.
And since every post I share about my favorite essential oil blends, I thought sharing these ones here will help you skip the guesswork and find what fits your own routine.
Summer mornings have a different pace. We don’t rush out the door, but we still need structure. I start by diffusing a citrus blend while I make breakfast. My go-to right now is:
Morning Focus Blend
It’s simple, energizing, and helps shift the mood from groggy to grounded. It also helps me reset if I didn’t sleep well—which, let’s be honest, happens more often when it’s hot at night and I’m up too late scrolling.
If I need to focus on work or house stuff while he’s busy with his own projects, I’ll roll a diluted version of that same blend on my wrists or temples.
If you’re a parent of young children, I know you’re used to the overstimulation. Even without school it seems, kids still hit walls.
Whether my son spent too long gaming, too much time outside, or bounced between too many activities, I can feel when he needs to come back to center.
Instead of telling him to calm down, I quietly turn on the diffuser with:
Reset Blend
It works on me too. I’ll use this in the early afternoon, before screen time turns into screen fog or moods start getting weird. It’s like background support for those in-between moments when we both need to breathe.
Chances are, you too live in a high-pollen area, and summer makes it worse. I keep a roller bottle ready:
Allergy Support Roller
We swipe it behind our ears or on the back of the neck. I also diffuse the same blend in the kitchen while we eat lunch. It helps without adding more pills to our day.

We spend evenings outside, especially on weekends. I stopped buying bug sprays years ago because of the smell and the sticky film they leave behind.
Now I mix my own outdoor spray:
I like to spray shoes, ankles, patio cushions—anything that might attract bugs. It works, and it doesn’t make us gag when we walk back inside.
Summer is HOT and that tends to intensify all smells.
I run the diffuser daily, but I also make linen spray for our throw blankets, his sneakers, and the backseat of the car.
Fresh Linen Spray
I keep it near the entryway and use it every time we come home from sports or errands. It’s one of those little things that makes the whole house feel better.
If your essential oil stash is looking a little low and you forgot what you’re missing, take a look at what I always restock in June:
I keep them organized in my small travel case. If I’m being fully honest, I also have a little shelf full of them… but if you’re just getting into this habit I find that if they’re not easy to grab, you don’t use them. Simple as that.
Essential oils aren’t a fix for everything. But they’ve become part of how I support my family and myself through the weird, wonderful mess of summer.
They help us stay focused without pushing. They give me tools that aren’t loud or dramatic. And they help shift the energy in our home in a way I don’t have to explain.
If your summer feels scattered, maybe these blends will help bring things back into balance.
And if you’ve got your own summer favorites, send them my way. I love hearing what other people are using.
Also I just wanted to leave these photos here, from a little while back when I hosted a Cleaning with Essential Oils class for some friends. We gathered around my dining table, made a bunch of DIY sprays, and swapped tips on what works in our homes.
These photos actually inspired this post, because it reminded me why I love sharing these blends so much because doing it together makes it feel less overwhelming, and a whole lot more fun.
If you ever want to set something like this up, message me. I’d love to help you bring it to your own kitchen table.
