The holidays are such a magical time to get together with family and friends. I love the cozy feeling that comes with hosting people in my home.
But, with that comes the worry of making sure I’m prepared for company. I want my guests to feel welcome and comfortable in my home.
To help me stay organized and ready for guests during this holiday season, I’ve come up with an organizing to-do list that you can use in your home too.
Before my guests arrive, I want to make sure that the entryway of my home is organized and inviting. In the hallway, I make sure the front doorstep is swept and the doormat is clean. I like to add a few decorative touches, like a pretty wreath or a festive doormat.
This helps create a warm and welcoming atmosphere as soon as they step into my home.
Once inside, I start by clearing off any clutter that may be present and check that there is enough space in my entryway closet for guests to hang their coats and put away their shoes.
Additionally, I like to set out a basket of slippers for my guests to change into.
Entryway To-Do List:
Clearing out my dining room is the first priority when I know I’m going to be hosting guests for the Holidays. We will all gather here for our meals after all.
I like to make sure the room feels spacious and inviting, so I start by giving it a thorough cleaning. I dust off the furniture, vacuum the floor, and freshen up the windows.
Dining Room To-Do List:
The living room is often the place where everyone gathers, so making sure it is cozy and inviting is essential.
I start by clearing away any clutter that may be present and then adding some homey touches, such as fresh flowers, cozy blankets, and festive decorations.
I also make sure there is plenty of seating by bringing in extra chairs or setting up a few folding chairs.
Living Room To-Do List:
To get the kitchen ready, I like to start by giving it a good cleaning. I scrub the counters and the backsplash, sweep the floors, and empty the trash. I also make sure I have enough dishes, glasses, and silverware for everyone.
In the kitchen, I make sure to have plenty of snacks and drinks available for my guests.
To make sure I’m prepared, I go grocery shopping a few days before their arrival and stock up on all the ingredients I need.
Finally, like in every other room, I always like to add a few special touches, like a festive tablecloth or a nice centerpiece.
Kitchen To-Do List:
The last room I always make sure to organize before my guests arrive is the bathroom. It’s important to me that my guests have a clean, comfortable place to freshen up.
Before their arrival, I thoroughly clean the bathroom, sweep and mop the floors, and scrub the bathtub, sink, and toilet.
Additionally, I make sure there is plenty of toilet paper, hand towels, and soap available for guests.
Bathroom To-Do List:
The guest room is one of the most important places to organize before you’re expecting people over.
I like to start by making sure the bed is made and the linens are fresh. I also check that there are plenty of pillows, blankets, and towels available.
I prepare my guests an amenities drawer with everything they need. If you want to see how I set that up, check out my video here.

Finally, I like to add a few extra touches, such as some fresh flowers or a cozy throw blanket on the bed.
Guest Room To-Do List:
From clearing out the entryway to preparing the guest room, I make sure every detail is tended to in order to provide the warm and welcoming atmosphere that I want my guests to experience.
Preparing my home for the holidays is always a labor of love, but it’s always worth it when I see the smiles on my guests’ faces.
With the right preparation and some simple touches, your home can be ready to host any holiday gathering in no time.
