As a wife, mom and organizer, my goal is to empower homeowners to find balance in their homes and minds through organization.
This 14-day challenge is designed to help you make small changes each day and get into the habit of organizing.

How do you spend your weekends at home? This may sound crazy to some but weekends are a favorite time for me to declutter and do easy jobs around the house.
In my experience, one of the biggest reasons that people find organizing and decluttering so difficult is because they try to tackle too many projects at once. Weekends are already full of activities, such as work-related tasks, family events, house cleaning, etc. so it’s important to not overwhelm yourself by taking on too much.
A good habit I started cultivating into my own life is setting time aside to write down a long list of tasks I’d like to tackle in the next few months in my house. I then divide this list into manageable weekend projects my family and I can easily take care of.
I shared this idea with my clients and they too agree that when they divide their to-do list into several smaller lists then it’s easier to deal with each item as needed instead of trying to deal with everything all at once.
Every family has different needs so my intention is to get you to start thinking of what areas in your home are in need of a little TLC (tender, loving, care).
After some reflection, write down your to-do list.
While this may seem like a trivial matter, the clothes hanger you choose does play a role in the way you feel when you walk into your wardrobe.
To avoid a disorganized, mismatched closet look, I encourage you to get rid of your plastic and wire hangers.
I like to use slim velvet non-slip hangers in my closet because they’re much sturdier and won’t bend, will last you a lifetime and looks much nicer than wire and plastic hangers.
They also offer special design features like notches that keep clothing with straps secured
Plastic is harmful to the environment and affects the quality of your food. Because plastic releases chemicals into foods over time – especially if they are microwaved or heated in a dishwasher, I avoid them at all costs and encourage my friends and family to do the same.
As an alternative, I use glass containers and Tupperware from brands like Sistema, LOCK&LOCK. Their products are very close to actual dish-ware, in terms of feel, durability and quality and won’t absorb smells or stains.
One of the most common sources of clutter in the kitchen are old, worn out utensils and unwanted kitchenware. Because the utensil drawer tends to get overlooked in our regular kitchen cleanup it can actually make it difficult if not impossible to cook efficiently overtime.
Make it a weekend project to go through your kitchen drawers and say thank you and goodbye to items that no longer serve you.
You can donate these items to local charities if they are still in good condition. If they are beyond repair, you can check with your city on what their recycling process is like.
When a towel or sheet has become worn, or is a pattern you no longer like, it is time to replace them.
Where possible, replace old towels and sheets with items that have a longer lifetime, such as bamboo. Bamboo is naturally hypoallergenic, mold resistant and doesn’t develop the bacteria often found in fabrics after they have been washed. They’re also made from an eco-friendly, renewable resource that’s harvested annually.
Maintaining a home is hard work but it truly pays off in wonderful ways when done with love & attention. I hope this article helped inspire you to tackle the necessary projects in your own home, one weekend at a time.
