As I look back on this year, it’s clear that 2024 was filled with meaningful projects, unforgettable events, and inspiring workshops that brought people together. From fresh produce initiatives to creative gatherings, every experience reminded me of the importance of connection, sustainability, and building a life centered around thoughtful choices.

I’m so thrilled to reflect on the launch of our very own farmers’ market at the House of Tan. This wasn’t just about selling fresh fruits and vegetables; it was about making sustainability and healthier living more accessible for everyone in our House of Tan community.
By providing fresh, seasonal produce right on-site, we removed the usual barriers to eating well—like missing grocery trips or relying on takeout. It became an easy, sustainable way for our team and clients to prioritize nutrition in their daily routines.
We produced reusable tote bags and also partnered with LeSportsac to market their adorable vegetable-themed zipper pouches. These bags were not only stylish but helped reduce single-use plastics, encouraging eco-friendly habits in an effortless way. It was a small but impactful step toward a more sustainable lifestyle.
At its heart, this farmers’ market was about so much more than fresh food. It was a reflection of the balance we all strive for: creating systems that make healthy, sustainable choices easy, while staying organized in the process.

The House of Tan design series was a major highlight of 2024. Each room, from the relaxed Living Room to the vibrant Teppanyaki Room and the Heritage Room filled with family mementos, was created with function and thought in mind.
This project brought together practical design and meaningful touches to make every area unique. The Outdoor Terrace, for example, became a favorite—a peaceful space to unwind and connect. Sharing the journey of creating these spaces has been a highlight of the year, and I can’t wait to see how the House of Tan continues to grow and bring people together.

This year for the Mid-Autumn Festival, we reimagined the traditional mooncake box with sustainability and practicality in mind. Our reusable, suitcase-style mooncake boxes were designed not only to carry festive treats but also to be used long after the holiday was over.
These boxes were functional, chic, and eco-friendly—perfect for storing small items, organizing accessories, or even as a thoughtful gift on their own. They became a beautiful example of how sustainable design can be incorporated into celebrations without compromising style or convenience.

This year’s Friendsgiving at the House of Tan was unforgettable. Hosting 40 guests in the warm and welcoming space, we set the tone for the evening with two interactive activities: a Couples Art Challenge that had everyone laughing over creative (and often hilariously abstract) portraits, and a high-energy Turkey Shake-Off game that broke the ice with plenty of laughter.
The dinner itself was a feast to remember, made extra special by our collaboration with Wills Farm. Each guest took home freshly baked bread from Paul, a young pastry chef from the WILL Foundation whose story of resilience inspired us all. As we sat around the beautifully decorated tables, enjoying good food and heartfelt conversations, it was clear that Friendsgiving was about more than just a meal—it was about celebrating friendship, community, and the joy of being together.

This fall, we hosted a pumpkin floral arrangement workshop, and it was one of my favorite creative projects of the year. Using mini pumpkins as vases, we worked with seasonal flowers to create stunning centerpieces perfect for autumn gatherings.
It was incredible to see everyone’s unique designs take shape, each reflecting their personal style and creativity. These arrangements added a festive, cozy touch to any table, proving that even everyday items can become something extraordinary with a little imagination.
Our food recycling workshop was all about transforming waste into beauty. By preserving leftover or unused food in resin, we showed how sustainability and creativity can go hand in hand.
Participants learned the steps to safely embed food items in resin, creating one-of-a-kind art pieces that served as both functional decor and a statement on mindful living. This workshop was a powerful reminder that even the simplest items can be reimagined into something meaningful.
This year’s Charity Event hosted by my friend TT—the Annual 2nd-Hand Eco Fashion Bazaar—was about more than just decluttering; it was about making a tangible difference. Held over the course of a week, the bazaar welcomed more participants than ever, transforming closets and raising over 14,000 RMB to provide heating equipment for schools in Qinghai’s harsh winters.
The event was a powerful reminder of how letting go of items we no longer use can ripple outward. Clothes that might have otherwise gone unused found new homes, reducing waste and supporting a meaningful cause. Watching the community come together to donate, shop, and share stories made the week unforgettable, proving that even small actions can lead to incredible impact.

We ended the year on a lighthearted note with our annual pajama party—a night filled with laughter, foot massages, dance-offs, and delicious snacks. This tradition is always a highlight, offering a chance to relax, connect, and celebrate friendships in the most casual and fun way.
The simplicity of a night spent in comfy clothes with great company reminded us that sometimes, the best memories are made in the most unassuming moments.
Looking back, 2024 was a year full of connection, creativity, and growth. Each event—whether a farmers’ market, workshop, or celebration—served as a reminder of the value of thoughtful living and the joy that comes from shared experiences.
As we move into the new year, I’m excited to carry these lessons forward: prioritizing sustainability, embracing creativity, and making time for what truly matters. Here’s to another year of vibrant moments and meaningful gatherings!
