As a wife, mom and organizer, my goal is to empower homeowners to find balance in their homes and minds through organization.
This 14-day challenge is designed to help you make small changes each day and get into the habit of organizing.

Are you one of the lucky ones that has a super organized & detail-oriented partner?
Despite being married to a professional organizer, my unfortunate husband didn’t inherit those genes.
He tells me that he can find his stuff just as easily if piled all together.
He even claims that “organized chaos” is the best way for him to function.
Fair enough, I can certainly agree that different people have different methods but despite our differing opinions, we managed to get his closet organized! At first, it was a struggle to straighten out and divide all his clothes in a way that makes sense and serves him best, but in the end, we’re both happy we did it.
If you are new to the practice of organizing and your husband’s closet is next on the list, let me give you some tips about how to organize a man’s wardrobe. I have had many clients this past year that struggle with organizing their husband’s clothes, including some that don’t own as many clothes as mine does!
Imagine my surprise when my husband, after a night of camping in the wildnerness, comes home with the sudden urge to clean out his entire closet!
Nature works wonders, I tell you! I was shocked and even though very sleep-deprived, I was so happy he finally embraced my tidying philosophy and was self-motivated to do a big over-haul.
Of course, I jumped at the opportunity to help! Here’s how we did it 👇
Begin to organize your husband’s closet by getting all his clothing together in one area of the house. I mean his winter & summer clothes, jackets, shoes, socks, you name it.
Have your husband go through each item and decide whether to keep it, donate it or throw it away. If you need printable signs to indicate your piles, you can download our printable ones here.
Determine how much space you have available to work with for storage. When you organize your husband’s closet, try and think about his daily life and incorporate tactics that make his routines easier. For example, I knew my husband would appreciate having his ties, belt and various accessories visible and accessible, so I used this accessories drawer with built-in separators to store his most-used things.
When my husband and I organized his closet, we knew we wanted to separate it into three areas:
Work clothes, which includes all his suits, tailored shirts & ties;
Casual clothes – separated by color for easy mixing and matching and
Athletic wear – my husband is an avid cyclist, so this area was important for his personal development
In your own home, you and your husband can think of the best solutions for your family. I personally love the dynamic feel that my husband’s wall bike storage adds to the room. It’s amazing how much of a different mood we can create and when we treat our objects with respect, they become centrepieces.
This tip is particularly important if you and your husband currently share a closet space. In all my clients homes so far, I end up using storage containers, clear shelf dividers and various bins to separate items in their closet. My clients find this to be an ingenious solution, one that also encourages them to maintain their tidy closets.
I encourage you to try these simple solutions in your own home. Once everything is separated, take it a step further and label everything for easy access.
I love this container because it has a movable plastic plate that you can push back and forth to keep the clothes intact.
If you’d like to purchase your own, I have this product listed on my favorites list here.
The space above was meant to be a coat closet at the doorway entrance. Previously, there was no shoe closet, so I custom-ordered one to fit into the middle section of the space we had to work with.
We then turned the other rack space into hat and computer bag / gym bag storage.
Learning how to organize your husband’s closet will help both you and him to feel more at ease in your home. Plus, it will make getting dressed a lot easier!
Ultimately, the more you learn how to organize with your family, the easier it will be to use the same skills to organize other areas of your home.
